The FedEx Cup Playoffs are here, and they are beautiful. Taking to TPC Southwind for the 2023 St. Jude Championship, the initial postseason event will cut the field from 70 to 50 for next week's BMW Championship. Lucas Glover finds himself narrowly inside the top-50 cutoff after his dramatic victory at the Wyndham Championship. Playing himself from outside the 110 in the season-long race, Glover will now look to carry the momentum into the postseason.
The deck will be stacked against him, as all the big hitters will be present over the next three weeks. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to action following a top-25 finish at The Open — his worst result since Oct. 2022. Scheffler missed the cut at this event last season when the field was 125, but there will be no 36-hole cut this time around.
Scheffler is a slight betting favorite over Rory McIlroy, who has peaked his head around this par 70 a time or two. Jon Rahm rounds out those players listed below +1000 with Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland hot on his tail. Cantlay has made a habit of running through the postseason with three FedEx Cup Playoff wins over the last two years. He's searching for his first win of this season.
