2023 college football Week 5 odds, lines: Legendary Vegas expert reveals picks, predictions

Legendary college football expert Bruce Marshall reveals the top values in the Week 5 lines

The Week 5 college football schedule might not match Week 4's in terms of overall matchup quality, but there are still plenty of intriguing games as conference play rolls on for most teams.

The ranked matchups include No. 13 LSU vs. No. 20 Ole Miss, where the Tigers are 2.5-point road favorites in the Week 5 SportsLine consensus college football odds. No. 3 Texas (-16.5) hosts No. 24 Kansas and No. 11 Notre Dame goes to No. 17 Duke (+5.5). Coach Prime and Colorado saw their hype train derailed in a blowout loss in Week 4, and they face another huge test as No. 8 USC (-21.5) comes to Boulder (see more college football lines right here).

Before making any Week 5 college football bets on those games or others, be sure to see what legendary college football handicapper Bruce Marshall has to say.

For years Vegas-based Marshall was synonymous with The Gold Sheet, the famed sports betting newsletter. With a background in play-by-play work and sports information while in college, Bruce joined TGS in 1981 when hired by the legendary Mort Olshan and served as executive editor for many years. Marshall now supplies his unique and colorful brand of football and basketball analysis to SportsLine members.

An in-demand guest on numerous sports talk radio and TV shows across the country, Bruce's vast array of editorial work has been featured in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the New York Post and many other outlets. He has won various handicapping titles and also is working on several book projects.

Now he's studied the Week 5 college football schedule and used his Tech Corner technique to break down every matchup.

One thing we can tell you for Week 5: Marshall is backing No. 2 Michigan (-17.5) and the Under (40) as the Wolverines travel to take on Nebraska at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Michigan opened at -18 and the total opened at 40.5, so both lines have seen some movement as the week has progressed.

"Jim Harbaugh is 9-4 vs. the spread in last 13 away from Ann Arbor," Marshall said. "Michigan also is 13-5-1 to the Under since late 2021 (4-0 Under this season). The Huskers are 10-3 to the Under since early 2022 (3-1 for Matt Rhule)."

Marshall has evaluated every other matchup and he's found a critical 21-1-1 spread trend that makes one team a HUGE value on Saturday! You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before making any college football picks.
