2022 PGA Championship field, odds, predictions: Best bets and PGA Tour picks from golf expert

Jim Holliman, who has been around the game for more than three decades and has been nailing his golf picks, offers his best bets and winners for this week's major championship at Southern Hills

The second major championship of the PGA Tour season tees off Thursday in Tulsa, Okla., and numerous major champions are set to tackle Southern Hills in the 2022 PGA Championship. This is the fourth PGA at the course, where Tiger Woods won in 2007. He is scheduled to compete this week. The 15-time major champion will have to battle the likes of reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler and four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, among many other huge names. Jordan Spieth has three major championships on his resume, and he needs the PGA title to complete a Career Grand Slam.

Scheffler and Jon Rahm are the 11-1 co-favorites in the latest 2022 PGA Championship golf odds from Caesars Sportsbook. McIlroy and Justin Thomas are priced at 14-1, followed by Collin Morikawa and Dustin Johnson at 16-1. Woods is a 60-1 long shot.

Before you consider any bets on the 2022 PGA Championship or make any PGA Tour predictions, you HAVE TO see what golf expert Jim Holliman has to say.

Holliman has been a writer and editor nearly 25 years and has been playing and following the game closely for more than three decades. The Florida-based writer knows what it takes to win on the PGA Tour and how the players' games fit the courses.

Holliman seems to have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough. At the Wells Fargo, he backed winner Max Homa (40-1) and runner-up Keegan Bradley (35-1) and even had Stephan Jaeger (125-1) among his contenders as the German tied for sixth. He also touted Davis Riley (45-1) before his top-10 finish at the Byron Nelson

The expert NAILED his picks for the Wells Fargo, with every one of the top five finishers among his picks. As predicted, Rory McIlroy had that one high round (a second-round 73) that has become his norm and finished fifth (the same position as in the expert's rankings).

Holliman also was right on the money before the Zurich Classic, taking the teams of Billy Horschel-Sam Burns and Xander Schauffele-Patrick Cantlay as his top two picks. Schauffele and Cantlay led wire-to-wire and held off runners-up Horschel and Burns by two strokes. And before the Masters, Holliman listed Scheffler among his contenders. Anyone who has followed his predictions is WAY UP!

Now, Holliman has released his confident 2022 PGA Championship picks. SHOCKINGLY, the golf expert is fading Cameron Smith, who is in the mix of favorites at 20-1. The 28-year-old has two victories, and his putting and iron game could be enough to keep him in it. But the expert is confident the Australian's driving will be a major issue on the revamped Southern Hills layout.

Instead, the golf expert is picking a HUGE long shot to win who comes in at more than 30-1. This veteran has all the skills needed to succeed in Tulsa, especially around the greens that are likely to torment the players all week. "He is due for a victory, so why not now?" Holliman says of this player. He could pull off a STUNNING victory, and anyone who backs this underdog could make a HUGE profit!
