2022 Formula 1 schedule, F1 picks, odds, qualifying: Italian Grand Prix projected leaderboard, start time, race prediction from top model

SportsLine's model simulated the Formula One Pirelli Italian Grand Prix 2022 at Monza and released its F1 Italy picks and predictions

The 2022 Formula 1 schedule continues on Sunday with the 2022 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Sunday, Sept. 11. The race has a scheduled start time of 9 a.m. ET. Max Verstappen of Red Bull is the -200 betting favorite in the latest Italian Grand Prix odds from Caesars Sportsbook. He is followed by Ferrari's Charles Leclerq at 13-5 and then Mercedes' George Russell at 8-1. Verstappen has opened up a nearly unassailable 109-point lead for the drivers' championship while Red Bull has a 135-point lead for the F1 Constructors' Championship.

SportsLine's proven computer projection model simulated the Italian Grand Prix 2022 10,000 times and came up with a surprising leaderboard.

Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary Formula 1 prediction model takes into account a slew of factors including track history and recent results.

The model has been scorching hot when it comes to picking Formula 1 race events dating back to 2021. It nailed both of Leclerc's wins in 2022, and at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, the model was strongly backing Verstappen as its top pick. The result: Verstappen dominated the field and ran away with a surprising victory. The model followed that up by calling Verstappen's win at the Rolex Emilia Romagna GP in April and then again the last two weeks in Belgium and the Netherlands. Anyone who followed the model's lead on those plays has seen HUGE returns!

Autodromo Nazionale di Monza is the oldest purpose-built racing circuit in Europe, having been established in 1922, and the third-oldest in the world behind Brooklands and Indianapolis. Formula One began racing there in 1950 and has been back every year since except in 1980, when the Italian Grand Prix was held at Imola while Monza was undergoing renovations. Lewis Hamilton's last win at Monza in 2018 was his fifth Italian GP win, tying him with Michael Schumacher for the most all-time. However, the race has produced some unpredictable results in recent years, with Daniel Ricciardo winning for McLaren in 2021 and Pierre Gasly winning for AlphaTauri-Honda in 2020.

Now, the model has dialed in on the 2022 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix and just released its coveted picks and leaderboard projections.

We can tell you the model is fading Verstappen even though he's the -200 favorite following Friday's practice. Verstappen has won four consecutive F1 GPs and is well on his way to his second consecutive drivers' championship. However, he's been retired in the last two Italian GPs and has never finished better than fifth in seven career Formula 1 starts at Monza. The model is not predicting him to cross the line in first on Sunday.

The model is also targeting two other drivers with Italian Grand Prix odds of 35-1 or longer to make a serious charge up the leaderboard! Anyone who backs these drivers could hit it BIG. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who they are before locking in any Formula 1 Italian GP picks of your own.

So who wins the 2022 Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix? And which long shot is a MUST-BACK? ... Join SportsLine right now to see the full projected F1 Italian GP leaderboard, all from the model that has nailed its racing picks all year, and find out!
