2022 Beijing Winter Games odds: Best bets and picks for freestyle skiing, snowboarding and more from Olympics expert
Olympics expert Mike Tierney cashed big on the 2016 and 2020 Summer Games and 2018 Winter Games, and he has three best bets in freestyle skiing, snowboarding and short track speedskating for opening weekend in Beijing
American snowboarder Jamie Anderson will be looking to win her third consecutive gold medal in slopestyle snowboarding when she tackles the hill on Saturday night at Genting Snow Park in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. If she succeeds, she will equal the three-peat of Bonnie Blair, who won the 500-meter speedskating race at three consecutive Olympic Winter Games.
Anderson is the +300 second choice in the women's slopestyle odds. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott of New Zealand is the +100 favorite. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Before locking in any Beijing Olympics 2022 picks or predictions, you need to see what SportsLine's Olympics expert, Mike Tierney, has to say. (Head over to SportsLine's 2022 Olympics page for more analysis and updates.)
A national sportswriter whose work appears in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, Tierney has covered nine Olympic Games in person. For Rio in 2016, Tierney profited big-time. He told readers to bet Over on Team USA's gold medal count (41.5) and Over on Team USA's overall medal count (102.5). The result? 46 golds, 121 medals and two easy cashes.
For the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Tierney hit two of his three predictions: Germany (+200) to win the most gold medals and the United States winning Under 10.5 gold medals (+110). And at last year's Tokyo Games, he correctly predicted the United States would go Over 111.5 total medals (-110).
Now, Tierney has analyzed Saturday's and Sunday's action and identified three best bets. We can tell you that he is picking Anderson (+300) to win her third consecutive gold in the women's slopestyle. "Her challengers are stout but relatively new to the scene," Tierney says.
Tierney also has picks in freestyle skiing and short track speed skating. One of these picks is a long shot that Tierney says is "worth a flyer." You ABSOLUTELY need to see what he has to say before locking in your picks.

Tierney's picks and analysis:
Freestyle skiing, men's mogul (5 a.m. ET Saturday)
Ikuma Horishima, Japan (+230)
This event boils down to a duel involving Japan's Ikuma Horishima and the favored Mikael Kingsbury (-125) of Canada. Nicknamed King of Mogul (his T-shirt reads "It's good to be king"), Kingsbury is the defending Olympics and World champ. Horishima, five years younger, has gained ground, winning three World Cup events compared to six for Kingsbury. Though only 24, Horishima swept both golds at the World Championships five years ago as a teenager.
Odds: FanDuel
Short track speed skating, mixed team relay (7:23 a.m. ET Saturday)
Russian Olympic Committee (+800)
The competition is a chore to forecast because it is new to the Olympic menu. China did claim a test event last October, and The Netherlands wields no shortage of short track talent. The ROC has dealt with COVID-19 issues, and its odds have drifted down to +800, fifth on the board. Given the unpredictability of an event with no history, the Russians are worth a flyer.
(Odds: Caesars)
Snowboarding, women's slopestyle (8:30 p.m. ET Saturday)
Jamie Anderson, United States (+300)
Experience can prevail over youth. Anderson, 31, has earned gold in the only two Olympic competitions and goes for a three-peat. Her challengers are stout but relatively new to the scene: Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (20) of New Zealand, who nipped Anderson at the X Games in January; Kokomo Murase (17) of Japan, and Tess Coady (21) of Australia. There is value in the veteran at +300.
