2021 Pinstripe Bowl odds, picks: Maryland vs. Virginia Tech selections from advanced computer model for Wednesday's bowl game

The SportsLine Projection Model, which is up almost $3,600 over the past five-plus years, has simulated the 2021 New Era Pinstripe Bowl matchup between the Terrapins and Hokies 10,000 times

Former ACC rivals collide when the Maryland Terrapins take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in the 2021 Pinstripe Bowl on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium in New York City. Maryland and Virginia Tech were both members of the ACC from 2004-13. While the Hokies (6-6) remain in the conference, the Terrapins (6-6) are in their eighth season in the Big Ten. Maryland holds a 16-15 edge in the all-time series between the teams.

Kickoff is 2:15 p.m. ET. The Terrapins are four-point favorites in the latest Maryland vs. Virginia Tech odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the Over/Under for total points scored is 55. (See the latest college football lines for all of this week's games on our college football odds page.)

Before you make any Virginia Tech vs. Maryland picks and Pinstripe Bowl predictions, see what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Over the past five-plus years, the proprietary computer model has generated a stunning profit of almost $3,600 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It also enters the third week of the 2021-22 college football bowl season on a 43-30 run on all top-rated college football side picks. Anyone who has followed it has seen HUGE returns.

The model knows that Maryland has one of the best passing attacks in the country. Led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, the Terrapins average 307.1 passing yards per game, which ranks third in the Big Ten and 13th in the nation. They need just 139 passing yards to break the program's single-season record for passing yards (3,823).

The model also knows that Virginia Tech's rushing attack is on a roll. Led by Raheem Blackshear, the Hokies have run for 1,503 yards (250.5 yards per game) over their last five games with six touchdowns. They also are averaging 5.7 yards per attempt over that span.

Now the model has simulated Maryland vs. Virginia Tech and the Pinstripe Bowl 10,000 times, and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning Under the total, and it says one side of the spread covers more than 60 percent of the time. You absolutely need to see it before locking in your own picks.
