2021 Hero World Challenge odds, predictions: Best bets and surprising PGA Tour picks from consummate golf insider

Golf stats expert Sal Johnson, who knows what it takes to win on the PGA Tour, offers his best bets and winners for this week's event at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas

The stars are coming out this week for the 2021 Hero World Challenge as the event returns after a one-year hiatus. The event, hosted by Tiger Woods at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas, boasts a 20-player field of past FedEx Cup winners, major champions and the biggest names from all over the world.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Rory McIlroy as the 15-2 favorite in its latest 2021 Hero World Challenge golf odds. Among the others from the 2021 Hero World Challenge field expected to contend are Collin Morikawa (8-1), Justin Thomas (10-1), Viktor Hovland (11-1) and Jordan Spieth (11-1).

Before you consider your bets on the 2021 Hero World Challenge or make any PGA Tour predictions, be sure you see what proven golf insider Sal Johnson has to say. The media legend has broken down the field and revealed his top Hero World Challenge picks below. With his track record, you'll really want to see who he is backing.

The esteemed golf insider has been around the game for many years and knows what it takes to win. Johnson has been on a strong run during the fall season.

Before the Mayakoba event in Mexico, Johnson had Viktor Hovland among his players to watch, while he predicted Brooks Koepka would miss the cut.

"We still don't know if he is healthy and ready to go," Johnson told SportsLine of Koepka. "He tried to play last year and missed the cut. I have a funny feeling that we will see the same this week."

The 31-year-old didn't break par and went home early again, while Hovland shot 23 under to cruise to a four-stroke victory.

Before the Zozo Championship in Japan, Johnson tabbed Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets, and he was right on the money. Matsuyama shot a final-round 65 and won by five strokes after trailing by one with eight holes to play on Sunday!

And at the Sanderson Farms Championship, Johnson nailed Sam Burns as his winner. Anyone who has followed Johnson's advice has cashed in HUGE!

Now Johnson, the first producer of "Inside the PGA Tour," a longtime ABC Sports golf producer who worked with Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, and founder of the world's top golf stats database, has released his highly confident 2021 Hero World Challenge picks, and they will surprise you. Shockingly, the golf expert is strongly fading Bryson DeChambeau, who is among the favorites at 12-1 at Caesar's Sportsbook! The tour's big hitter looked terrible in his exhibition match with Koepka last weekend, failing to post a birdie in nine holes. Albany also doesn't fit his game very well, and he finished 12th and T-15 in his two appearances. DeChambeau hasn't been playing much and hasn't looked in form, so you're much better off going a different direction.

Instead, the golf expert is backing a long shot who comes in at well over 20-1! This veteran has been playing well, and even when he isn't his putter can keep in the mix. This player could pull off a stunning victory in this star-studded field, and anyone who backs this underdog could cash in HUGE!
