2021 Breeders' Cup Mile morning line odds, picks: SportsLine horse racing writer handicaps Saturday's $TK million race

SportsLine horse racing writer Gene Menez has analyzed the Breeders' Cup Mile 2021 at Del Mar

Many of the world's top turf milers square off when the starting gate opens in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Mile on Saturday at Del Mar in Del Mar, Calif. The Charles Appleby-trained Space Blues is the lukewarm 3-1 morning-line favorite in the Breeders' Cup Mile odds. West Coast-based star Mo Forza is the 5-1 second choice in the wide-open Breeders' Cup Mile field. Post time is 6:20 p.m. ET.

Before making any Breeders' Cup Mile picks, you'll want to hear what SportsLine writer Gene Menez has to say.

A former reporter and editor at Sports Illustrated, Menez covered an array of sports, including horse racing, for the magazine and its website for almost 14 years. Between 2010 and 2012, he served as SI's handicapper for the Triple Crown races and correctly predicted Super Saver to win the Kentucky Derby in 2010. In 2015, while writing for Sports on Earth, Menez accurately gave out the superfecta (American Pharoah, Firing Line, Dortmund and Frosted), which paid $1,268.20 for $2. Then in 2017, he tweeted out his Kentucky Derby picks, including Always Dreaming to win, and hit the Pick 4, which paid almost $6,900 on a $1 bet.

Now, Menez has handicapped the field for the Breeders' Cup Mile, made his picks and formulated his bets.

We can tell you that he is high on double-digit European long shot Pearls Galore, who is 12-1 on the morning line. "This filly showed speed in the seven-furlong Prix de la Foret on heavy ground, so I expect her right on Blowout's hip entering the first turn," he says. Menez is using Pearls Galore prominently on his tickets.

Also, Menez's top pick is a double-digit long shot who "has enough early speed." He also is high on another long shot who "could be ready for another big forward move." Menez is including these horses in his wagers, and so should you. You NEED to see which horses they are before making any picks of your own.

So what double-digit long shot wins the 2021 Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar on Saturday? What other long shots must be backed? And how has Menez structured his wagers? ...
