Gator Bowl from Jacksonville. All things equal, I'd probably take the points here as South Carolina ended the season with spectacular wins over Tennessee and Clemson and Notre Dame will be without QB Drew Pyne, All-American tight end Michael Mayer and top pass-rusher Isaiah Foskey. Pyne might not be missed, though, as Tyler Buchner, who started the first two games before being injured, is healthy and ready to go. I have to fade the Cocks (sometimes I miss being on Early Edge) as they are without several players from their two-deep roster from the regular-season finale, led by leading rusher MarShawn Lloyd, No. 2 and No. 3 wideouts Josh Vann and Jalen Brooks, top tight end Jaheim Bell (who was also second on the team in rushing), offensive lineman Dylan Wonnum, and starting defenders Zacch Pickens, Darius Rush, Cam Smith and Gilber Edmond. Oh, and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield left for Nebraska. YIKES! The Irish will want to get Coach Marcus Freeman his first bowl win.
The Fighting Irish's defense won't be able to handle a South Carolina offense with confidence, and the Gamecocks' defense isn't exactly the 1985 Bears out there. The Over is 7-4-1 in Notre Dame games this year, and has hit in six straight games. It has hit in three of the last four South Carolina games as well, so "the trend is your friend" in this one.
