Syracuse showed signs of life last week in its overtime loss to Wake Forest, but it's going to have a much more difficult time with Clemson. The Tigers had a much-needed bye week last weekend, which has given coach Dabo Swinney time to recalibrate his offense and fix what has been going wrong. The Orange will have a difficult time moving the ball and the Tigers will find enough offensive life to pull away in the second half for a cover.
This is primarily a fade of Clemson. The Tigers are 0-5 ATS and visit a tough Orange team that relies on a dynamic rushing attack and a strong defense. Back Syracuse to cover.
We're halfway into the season and Clemson has yet to cover against an FBS foe, largely because they have not been able to score as many points as the line indicates. Maybe that will change this week as the lines are starting to trickle down some, but until Clemson actually does cover, I'm betting they won't.
Clemson isn’t the same team we’ve been accustomed to seeing. We like them every week because they’re cheap and the talent rating doesn’t equate to the spread. But in five games this season, it's been five non-covers, and the Tigers have revealed enough to say, "Stop betting them and bet against them now." Syracuse has covered its last four games and might even win this one outright. I took the Orange and all those points, as they'll be fired up.
