Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Max's Analysis:

This spread is way too low. The Wildcats are the only team in the country with a top 10 offense and defense according to Kenpom. The Golden Bears are the worst team in the Pac-12. The Wildcats are coming off of a depressing 2OT loss vs FAU. They should be ready for the start of conference play. Lay the points.

Bruce's Analysis:

Good news for Cal, as the projected starting lineup was available for the first time last Wednesday vs. UCSD, with top scorer and ex-Texas Tech Jaylon Tyson (19.4 ppg) and the returning top scorer from a year ago, G Devin Askew (had missed the previous five weeks), both activated after absences and coming off the bench, though expect one or possibly both to be in the starting five on Friday at Haas Pavilion. With other transfers, 6–11 Fardaws Aimaq (16.9 ppg) and G Jalen Cone (16.3 ppg) already highly productive, it’s easier to see why Cal hardly about to concede anything under new HC Mark Madsen. This is a big slug of points to be laying on the road in a conference opener. Play Cal
