New Mexico State controlled UConn from start to finish, with a spread that was way off, based on the on-court performance. Arkansas will pose a different challenge for New Mexico State on Saturday. Look for the pace of Eric Musselman’s team to affect the offensive production of the Aggies. Take Arkansas.
Who am I to step in the way of Teddy Buckets after seeing the way the West Virginia transfer went off for 37 points against UConn on Thursday night? Chris Jans' Aggies team plays terrific defense and, like the Vermont team that pushed Arkansas in the first round, plays with a patient pace on offense. That clashes with the kind of game Arkansas wants to play, and I see this coming down to a one-possession game with JD Notae and Teddy Allen going back-and-forth in the final minutes.
Aggies' point guard Teddy Allen was phenomenal in their first game. He put up 37 points and put the Aggies on his back. He is their only player that attempted a free throw, and he went 13/13, including 7/7 in the last minute to close out the game. The Razorbacks really struggled against the Catamounts' guards and it will only get tougher in this game. The Aggies and Teddy Allen are going to get started early and close the game out late to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
