2020 NFL Draft: LSU receiver Justin Jefferson over-under 21.5 draft position

Bettors at William Hill sportsbook clearly believe that LSU receiver Justin Jefferson will be a Top-20 pick on Thursday in the 2020 NFL Draft.

William Hill sportsbook had previously listed LSU receiver Justin Jefferson with an Over-Under 2020 NFL Draft position of 19.5 on Thursday night in Round 1. Bettors absolutely crushed the Under (i.e. 19th or sooner) with 85 percent of all tickets on the prop leaning that way and 86 percent of all money wagered. Thus, the site has shifted his draft position up to 21.5 as of this writing, although the Under remains a -180 favorite (wager $180 to win $100).

Why 21.5? Both Jacksonville at No. 20 and Philadelphia at No. 21 receiver-needy. On the CBS Sports Big Board, Jefferson is ranked as the No. 31 overall player and No. 5 receiver behind Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb, Alabama's Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs, and Clemson's Tee Higgins.

The 6-foot-1, 202-pounder Jefferson was a big part of Joe Burrow's Heisman Trophy-winning season last year with LSU as Jefferson tied for the FBS lead with 111 catches along with 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns – the TDs were second in the FBS behind teammate and Biletnikoff Award winner Ja'Marr Chase, who is not eligible for the 2020 draft. Jefferson more than doubled his sophomore year totals in catches (from 54) and touchdowns (from six).

Jefferson was unstoppable in the College Football Playoff semifinal win over Oklahoma with 14 catches for 227 yards and four scores (which tied a bowl record). He also had a good game in the national championship win over Clemson with nine catches for 106 yards.

The last LSU receiver to be selected in Round 1 – Chase will be in 2021 – was Odell Beckham Jr. by the Giants in 2014 and he obviously became a star. However, the five previous LSU wideouts chosen in Round 1 combined to make just one Pro Bowl (Dwayne Bowe in 2010).

William Hill also has a yes-only prop at +1000 that Jefferson will be a first-round pick. That's a lock.
