Game 1 was a blueprint for how this series will go, for the most part. We won't see many starting pitchers go deep, we'll see both teams hitting big home runs that change game, etc. There is one exception, however, and it's Nathan Eovaldi. He's the one starting pitcher in this series who will pitch well and get length. I like him for six innings or so with limited Astros offense while the Red Sox offense displays its power. It'll be 1-1 going back to Boston.
Nathan Eovaldi is just one of those guys that turns it on when the playoffs come around. He now has a career 1.93 ERA in 8 postseason appearances, and he pitched in Houston twice in 2018 in the ALCS and pitched two quality starts. Nick Pivetta has been dealing and he should be able to piggyback Eovaldi. Luis Garcia was hit hard by the White Sox in his 2nd career postseason start and he has yet to pitch more than 2.2 innings in his two starts. The Astros don’t really have anyone to bridge that gap to the back end of their bullpen now after losing pitching depth with Lance McCullers Jr. injury.
