White Sox vs. Astros odds, lines: Chicago expert reveals MLB pick for American League Division Series Game 2 Friday afternoon

SportsLine expert Matt Severance has a pick for Friday afternoon's ALDS Game 2 matchup between the White Sox and Astros in Houston.

There are four MLB playoff games Friday and the first is Game 2 of the American League Division Series between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros. First pitch from Minute Maid Park is 2:07 p.m. ET and shown on the MLB Network. Houston is listed as a -115 favorite (risk $115 to win $100) on the money line in the latest White Sox vs. Astros odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total runs scored is 8 (see the latest lines for every game on our MLB odds page). Houston leads 1-0 after a 6-1 blowout win Thursday.

Before making any White Sox vs. Astros picks, you NEED to see what SportsLine expert Matt Severance has to say.

Severance, SportsLine's breaking news writer, multi-sport handicapper and an Early Edge podcast regular, is 148-107 in his past 255 MLB picks, returning more than $2,400. Severance is 34-14 on his last 48 picks involving White Sox games, returning nearly $1,700. He faded Chicago in Game 1. Anyone who has followed him is WAY up.

Houston will start left-hander Framber Valdez, who was 11-6 with a 3.14 ERA this season that was a team best among starters (just ahead of the 3.16 by Game 1 starter Lance McCullers Jr.). Valdez was 5-2 with a 3.45 ERA in 11 home starts with batters hitting only .218 off him. The 27-year-old also thrived in seven day starts with a 2.51 ERA, including his lone complete game. He beat the White Sox in Houston on June 19, allowing two earned over seven innings.

Chicago counters with right-hander Lucas Giolito (11-9, 3.53). He's as nasty as anyone in the American League but can have control problems at times. Giolito finished the season very strong, though, with nine straight outings allowing three earned or fewer. He hasn't personally lost since Aug. 15. Giolito was actually better on the road (7-3, 3.25 ERA) than at home (4-6, 3.81 ERA). His lone 2021 start vs. Houston was a complete-game victory on the South Side on July 17, allowing one run and three hits.

Now, Severance has set his sights on White Sox vs. Astros Game 2. We can tell you he's leaning Under the total and he's also found a critical X-factor that has him jumping all over one side of the money line. You ABSOLUTELY need to see what he has to say before locking in any MLB picks of your own.
