Week 3 QB power rankings: Betting the MVP race, rest of season projections, how to treat injuries and full tiers
Readers of last week's quarterback rankings might remember that Buffalo's Josh Allen led off the honor roll call. He'd yet to play, what with the Bills onstage for the Monday night opener, and had been elevated to the head of the class almost by default after Patrick Mahomes' dud of a season debut.
Allen's promotion initially appeared ill-conceived. In the loss to the New York Jets, he was awful, with stats that seemed as if they belonged in an erroneous story "written" by ChatGPT — one fumble, three interceptions, five sacks. It was among his worst games.
Allen followed it six days later with perhaps his regular-season pinnacle: 31-of-37 passing, three touchdowns, no interceptions. The Bills' 38-10 blowout of Las Vegas was the most decisive win of Week 2.
Thanks, Josh, for belatedly justifying our placement atop the list of starting QBs. In this weekly feature, we rank the starters at the position based on past performance and projections. Alongside each player is his MVP odds if applicable, a QB2 rating that indicates how much a team's power rating is downgraded if the starter is out and projected fantasy points per game.
