Week 3 NFL power ratings: How to value all 32 teams, including Browns without Nick Chubb, for ATS picks

Get the edge over the sportsbooks in Week 2 and beyond by developing a power rating system to stay ahead of the lines

Week 2 is in the books, but it brings along another premier quarterback injury to worry about. Last week, we knew heading into our preview of the week at large that Aaron Rodgers was going to miss the rest of the season. Things certainly don't seem as dire for Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, but he appeared to aggravate his calf injury in the Week 2 loss, and his status is in question for Monday's game against the Rams.

The betting market certainly believed on Monday Burrow had a good shot at missing the game, moving the line all the way down to Bengals -2 after it was Bengals -7.5 on the lookahead number prior to Week 2. With the Rams not looking particularly impressive against the 49ers despite all the catches for rookie Puka Nacua, the market move is tied directly to Burrow's health. His backup is Jake Browning, an undrafted free agent in 2019 who threw his first NFL pass in Week 1's ugly loss to the Browns, and the drop-off from a healthy Burrow to Browning is among the largest in the league from QB1 to QB2.

But how much exactly is that drop worth, and more importantly, what's the drop to Browning from the version of Burrow that has been on the field the last two weeks? And how much do we drop the Browns after they lost Nick Chubb and watched Deshaun Watson continue to struggle? We dive into that in our Week 3 ATS power ratings below.

If you need a refresher on how to build spread power ratings, why they're important for beating the market and how successful I've been with this system at SportsLine, check out the Week 1 version of these power ratings. You can also check out SportsLine on Sunday afternoons as I give my initial power ratings adjustments for each team to get ahead of the market openers before diving in fully for this Tuesday feature. Otherwise, we'll jump right in.
