Week 2 QB power rankings: Betting the MVP race, rest of season projections, how to treat injuries and full tiers
Well, that didn't last long.
In our opening QB Power Rankings, where we rate starting NFL signal callers each Monday, towering above everyone else in the top tier was the otherworldly Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Then the defending champs were held to 20 points by the Lions, who turned Mahomes into a mere mortal. He completed only 21 of his 39 throws, though his teammates contributed to the lame percentage with eight drops.
As a result, Mahomes shares center stage entering Week 2 with others. The tiers are designed to reflect how QBs might fare the rest of the season. Mahomes, of course, could separate himself from the pack again, but he no longer stands alone after non-support from the receiving corps and a defensive blueprint provided by Detroit to other teams.
Alongside each player is his MVP odds if applicable, a QB2 rating that indicates how much a team's power rating is downgraded if the starter is out, and projected fantasy points per game.
