Wednesday, October 4 MLB odds, trends: Heaviest Wild Card Game 2 prop action on Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi, Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria

Here are the most-wagered MLB props Wednesday at DraftKings.

The home teams went 1-1 in both the American and National League Wild Card series openers Tuesday with the Rays, Blue Jays, Brewers and Marlins all facing elimination in their best-of-3 series in Game 2 on Wednesday. The three most-wagered props on the Wednesday MLB market at DraftKings are on Texas pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (two) and Arizona third baseman Evan Longoria.

The biggest money-winner among Tuesday's props was Rangers pitcher Jordan Montgomery Over 14.5 outs recorded (-155). Montgomery was spectacular with seven shutout innings. Bettors are going right back to the Over 14.5 outs prop (-115) on Eovaldi today at Tropicana Field as well as Eovaldi Over 3.5 strikeouts (-165).

If the outs and Ks total seem low for a pitcher who had a very good season at 12-5 with a 3.63 ERA and 132 strikeouts, it's because Eovaldi hasn't been the same since returning from the injured list in early September. In six outings, he had an ERA of 9.30 and topped 14.5 outs just twice. His regular-season finale was a disaster in Seattle as Eovaldi allowed seven runs over 3.1 innings in a loss last Friday. He did strike out five, his second straight game with more than 3.5 after six straight outings below that total, predating his IL stint.

The 33-year-old, who pitched for Tampa Bay in 2018, was 2-0 with a 2.92 ERA in two starts this vs. the Rays with eight strikeouts in 12.1 innings. The Rays only struck out seven times in Game 1, with Montgomery accounting for five of them.

The Diamondbacks had been 0-14 in their playoff history when trailing a playoff game by at least three runs and were down 3-0 early in Milwaukee, but won 6-3 in large part due Longoria's defense. In the fifth inning, the third baseman made a tumbling grab of a Tyrone Taylor line drive and ended a bases-loaded Brewers rally when he got to his knees and doubled Willy Adames off at second to finish the inning and keep Arizona in the lead. Longoria, who will be 38 this weekend, had started only 41 games at the hot corner during the regular season.

At the plate Tuesday, Longoria had a single in four at-bats and his popular prop tonight is Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-155). His last RBI came on Sept. 24. His last two-hit game (not that he would need two hits) was on July 14. Longoria's last run scored was Sept. 16.

Today's other popular MLB player props at DraftKings:

Brewers' Freddy Peralta Over 14.5 outs (-130) vs. Diamondbacks: Peralta is 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA in his past five home starts. He had gone Over 14.5 outs in 19 straight outings before being shelled over 3.1 IP in his regular-season finale at Miami.

Blue Jays' Jose Berrios Over 14.5 outs (-145) at Twins: The former Twin has gone Over 14.5 outs in eight straight starts and lasted 5.2 innings in his lone 2023 start vs. Minnesota.
