Updated NBA Rookie of the Year Odds

Lonzo Ball remains on top, but there's been plenty of movement behind him following Summer League action.

Shortly following the NBA Draft, we took a look at the initial odds for NBA Rookie of the Year.

It hasn't been too long since that point, but a lot has already changed.

One thing hasn't: Lonzo Ball remains the favorite to bring home the award as a rookie point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers this year.

Bovada.lv opened with Ball as the favorite at 5/2, and has now bumped him to 2/1 after a sensational summer league performance.

After a troubling start, Ball settled in and had one of the best summers in recent history -- averaging 16.3 ppg, 9.3 apg and 7.7 rpg -- on his way to being named MVP.

With the Lakers clearing the deck this offseason to make room for next year's loaded class of free agents, Ball has a tremendous opportunity to put up big numbers this season.

There's been plenty of movement behind him, however. Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr., another summer standout (17.3 ppg), jumped up from 16/1 to 3/1 -- placing him right behind Ball.

Celtics forward Jayson Tatum also made a decent jump up from 9/1 to 5/1 with a strong summer that included 17.7 ppg during his time in Vegas.

A pair of No. 1 overall picks -- Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons -- remain very much in the mix despite falling back a bit. Fultz flashed in his limited opportunities this summer, but also missed time with a sprained ankle, ultimately moving him to 9/1 after opening at 5/1.

Simmons continued to rest a foot injury that cost him all of 2016, and holds steady at 5/1.
