Tennessee Titans place absent Vic Beasley on Reserve Did Not Report list
The Tennessee Titans placed linebacker Vic Beasley on the Reserve Did Not Report list on Thursday after the veteran pass rusher did not report to the team's training camp for the third straight day. Titans general manager Jon Robinson said in a statement that he had been in contact with Beasley, who said he would be reporting "in the near future."
Here's the full statement from Robinson: "On Tuesday July 28th, we placed Vic Beasley on the Reserve Did Not Report list. I have been in contact with Vic, he is not here, he understands his absence is unexcused, and he told me he will be reporting to camp in the near future. Our current focus is on the players that are here now, getting everyone acclimated to the protocols, our building, and our football program. We will have the same acclimation process with Vic when he reports."
The statement did not say why Beasley, 28, has not reported to camp.
A first-round pick of the Falcons in the 2015 NFL Draft, Beasley had 37½ sacks in five seasons with Atlanta, including an NFL-best 15½ in 2016. But he racked up just 18 sacks combined over the last three seasons with the Falcons, who let him walk in the offseason without even making an offer.
The Titans, who ranked 13th in the league in 2019 in sacks with 43, signed Beasley in March to a one-year, prove-it deal for $9.5 million. At the time Robinson said, "We brought him in because he's got some ability to rush the passer off the edge." Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Beasley wasn't able to work with his new team during the offseason.
Tennessee is a 40-1 long shot to win the Super Bowl, according to William Hill's odds. In Week 1, the Titans are 1½-point underdogs at Denver.
