Super Bowl 57 Chiefs vs. Eagles odds, props: Big bet placed on zero kickoff or punt return touchdowns scored

Special teams touchdowns are rare in Super Bowl history.

We have a big bet alert at Caesars Sportsbook regarding Sunday's Super Bowl 57 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. On the prop of whether a kickoff or punt will be returned for a touchdown, one better wagered $35,000 on No at -1400 for a potential $2,500 win. That wager also has moved the number, with No now at -1800 and Yes at +1000.

There never has been a punt returned for a touchdown in the Super Bowl, but 10 players have scored on kickoff returns, including the New York Giants' Ron Dixon and the Baltimore Ravens' Jermaine Lewis on consecutive plays in the third quarter of Super Bowl 35.

The Chicago Bears' Devin Hester scored on 92-yard kickoff return to open Super Bowl 41 in Miami against the Indianapolis Colts, but the Bears would lose the game 29-17. The last kickoff return TD came in Super Bowl 48 in New Jersey, when Seattle's Percy Harvin returned the opening kickoff of the second half 98 yards for a score and 29-0 lead on the way to a 43-8 Seahawks rout of the Denver Broncos.

Kansas City has used rookie running back Isiah Pacheco and receivers Skyy Moore (also a rookie) and Kadarius Toney as its returners this postseason. The longest kickoff return among them – most kickoffs are touchbacks these days – was 23-yard dash by Pacheco, while a 29-yard run by Moore represents the longest punt return. Neither play resulted in a TD. The Chiefs didn't have a kickoff or punt return score in the regular season.

Philadelphia hasn't had a punt return in the playoffs and Boston Scott has returned only one kickoff for 29 yards. Philly didn't have a regular-season return TD, either. Only five teams had a kick-return TD this year: Buffalo (two), Baltimore, Atlanta, Minnesota and Green Bay. Three clubs had a punt return score: New England, Cleveland and Detroit.

The biggest Super Bowl 57 prop bet payout so far at Caesars Sportsbook is a bettor dropping all of $8 on the Eagles to score exactly four points at +10000 for a potential $80,000 win. As far as I can tell, the only instance of an NFL team finishing with exactly four points in any game was Nov. 25, 1923, when the Racine Legion defeated the Chicago Cardinals, 10-4.
