Suns vs. Wizards Wednesday NBA injury report, odds: Devin Booker out, Bradley Beal questionable in second of back-to-back for both

Tonight's Phoenix and Washington NBA matchup likely will be missing two All-Star guards.

Phoenix's Devin Booker and Washington's Bradley Beal are two of top shooting guards in the NBA – and two of the highest-paid – but there will be no individual matchup between the two tonight when the Suns visit the Wizards. Booker has already been announced as out, and Beal more than likely will sit in what is the second game in 24 hours for both teams. Phoenix is -2 at Caesars Sportsbook.

We may not see Booker this week as he aggravated his strained left groin in Sunday's loss in Denver. He returned to Phoenix for further evaluation instead of accompanying the team on the rest of its six-game road trip. The Suns don't return home until Jan. 6. That doesn't mean Booker can't join the club on the trip and play before then, but it seems a bit unlikely. He's averaging 27.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds.

Landry Shamet would usually start in Booker's place, but he missed Tuesday's game in Memphis with an Achilles injury and won't play tonight either. Considering the Suns were without those two, Cam Payne and Cam Johnson, it was a pretty big upset that they beat the Grizzlies 125-108 to end a three-game skid.

Relative unknown Duane Washington Jr., a two-way guard in his second year out of Ohio State who usually barely sees the floor, scored a career-high 26 points and dished out a career-best eight assists. Coach Monty Williams surprisingly started Jock Landale in place of Booker to give the Suns more size.

Chris Paul could sit tonight too. He had 14 points and six assists in 24 minutes last night but exited in the third quarter with a calf injury. Paul had his leg tangled up with Memphis guard Dillon Brooks earlier and said after the game that he would be good for Wednesday, but it might not be his decision to make.

Washington upset visiting Philadelphia 116-111 on Tuesday to snap the Sixers' eight-game winning streak. Kristaps Porzingis scored 24 points and Beal added 19 but left in the fourth quarter due to soreness in his left hamstring. He recently returned from a six-game absence due to right hamstring issues.

Beal is averaging a team-best 23.5 points and shooting a career-best .527 from the floor. I'd be shocked if the team allows him to play. Beal has scored at least 40 points against Phoenix three times in his career.

The Wizards have won 10 of their past 15 vs. the Suns, including a 113-110 result in Phoenix on Dec. 20 to snap a 10-game overall losing streak at the time. Beal had 27 points and Booker was out.
