Rams vs. Packers Monday NFL odds, trends: Bettors with slight Green Bay lean, big on Aaron Jones and Christian Watson for touchdowns

Green Bay hosts the LA Rams tonight to close Week 15.

When the NFL schedule was released in May, tonight's Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers matchup looked like one of the marquee Monday night games of the season. Instead it's largely meaningless with the defending Super Bowl winners at 4-9 and the three-time defending NFC North champions at 5-8. However, neither side has technically has been eliminated from playoff contention yet. Green Bay is -7.5 at BetMGM and taking a decent lean at the book.

As of this writing, 51% of the bets and 63% of the money are on the Packers against the spread. On the total of 39.5, 59% of the bets and 57% of money the are on the Over. Playing conditions for the game could be rough, according to the forecast from CBS' Green Bay affiliate: "Occasional snow showers. Low 15F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 70%. Snowfall around one inch."

Los Angeles is in the midst of one of the worst seasons ever for a defending Super Bowl champion -- it is one loss shy of matching the 1999 post-John Elway Broncos for most losses by a defending SB winner all-time -- and would be eliminated with a defeat. Baker Mayfield will make his first start under center for the Rams after coming on early in relief on Thursday night in Week 14 and leading a stunning comeback win over the Raiders.

Mayfield will become the first quarterback since 1950 to start for three different teams in the same calendar year (including playoffs). John Wolford started Week 14 but was pulled early and isn't active tonight. Bryce Perkins will be Mayfield's backup. Three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald has missed the past two and will sit again tonight due to injury.

Green Bay comes out of its bye week and wouldn't be mathematically eliminated from postseason contention with a loss, but would have an extremely difficult path to the postseason. The Packers are +800 to make the playoffs and -1400 to miss. Rodgers is 6-1 straight up and 7-0 against the spread in his career against the Rams, including the playoffs. However, Rodgers hasn't thrown for 300 yards yet this season and has nine picks. He had nine total interceptions over the previous two seasons when was named MVP in both.

The Packers have dropped three of their past four at home after previously going 24-2 at home in the regular season under Matt LaFleur, who was an offensive coordinator under Sean McVay the Rams in 2017.

Other than Pro Bowl left tackle David Bakhtiari (appendix), who is out, the Packers are about as healthy as possible this late in the year thanks to the bye week. Rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs hasn't played since Nov. 6 but will return. Running back Aaron Jones has been playing through an ankle injury for a while but will be on the field.

The most-wagered player prop tonight as of this writing is on Jones to score the game's first touchdown at +550, followed by Green Bay rookie WR Christian Watson for an anytime TD at +110 (he has seven TD catches in the past four games) and Rams tight end Tyler Higbee Under 26.5 receiving yards at -120.
