Lean: West Virginia -7
Will Grier and David Sills should be one of the best QB-WR duos in the nation. That's a huge problem for a Tennessee team with questions at cornerback. West Virginia is looking to make a statement that its a contender, while the Vols will need to some time to put the pieces back together from the worst season in school history. I like the Mountaineers by double-digits.
California -6 vs. North Carolina
Washington St -4 at Wyoming
Oregon -28½ vs. Bowling Green
Old Dominion -5½ at Liberty
Notre Dame -2 vs. Michigan

Lean: Michigan +2
Let's face it, the Wolverine have underachieved in Jim Harbaugh's tenure in Ann Arbor, but now he has a QB (Ole Miss transfer Shea Patterson) and one of the nation's top running back units. Notre Dame has its QB situation set (Brandon Wimbush), but the offensive line in front of him may need to experience some growing before it's a top unit. That's trouble against a Michigan defensive front that is loaded and deep.
Alabama -28½ vs. Louisville
Adam Thompson, SportsLine Staff Analyst
Lean: Alabama -28.5
The Cardinals had a once-in-a-generation superstar in Lamar Jackson last year – and went 8-5 thanks to a questionable defense that allowed 45 points to Boston College. By most accounts, Louisville will once again be able to score (but to a lesser extent without Jackson) and will again struggle to stop anyone. The Crimson Tide are locked and loaded -- nearly 90 percent of its two-deep depth chart is filled with four-star and five-star talent.
Navy -15 at Hawaii
Sunday, Sep 2nd
Miami Florida -3 vs. LSU
Josh Nagel, SportsLine Staff Analyst
Lean: Miami -3
The Tigers will be replacing almost all their top contributors, including LB Arden Key and RB Derriis Guice, and they will also have a new quarterback behind center with Danny Etling taken in the NFL draft. Miami has a wealth of returning talent from last year's breakout team that reached the ACC title game. This neutral-site contest might be a different story if it were held late in the season, the Hurricanes should have a substantial edge in Week 1.
Monday, Sep 3rd
Florida State -6½ vs. Virginia Tech
