Odds revealed for where Bengals QB Andy Dalton plays in 2020

FanDuel oddsmakers reveal odds on where Andy Dalton will play in the 2020 season.

The Cincinnati Bengals own the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and it's a virtual certainty that they take Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow of LSU. That ultimately makes veteran starter Andy Dalton superfluous and it appears likely that the Bengals will attempt to trade the three-time Pro Bowler at some point this offseason if possible and could easily cut him if nothing works out.

Dalton has thrown for 31,594 yards and 204 touchdowns with just 118 interceptions in his nine-year career and he could potentially improve the quarterback situation of a number of teams by coming in to compete as a starter or to be an overqualified backup. Dalton carries a $17.7 million cap hit into the 2020 season but has no dead cap money left, so teams might be willing to trade a middle or late-round pick to bring him in and see what he has left with the insurance that they can cut him at no cost if necessary.

However, that makes figuring out where Dalton might play in 2020 a serious challenge. There will be clear interest from a number of teams be it via trade or free agency, but he may be a secondary option for a number of them.

But the FanDuel SportsBook has still attempted to handicap where the long-time starter might be playing in Week 1 of the 2020 season. Here are the odds:

Which team will Andy Dalton be playing for Week 1 of the 2020 season?

    Bears +270
    Colts +450
    Patriots +450
    Dolphins +600
    Buccaneers +600
    Chargers +750
    Raiders +750
    Bengals +900
    Titans +1500
    Panthers +2500

The Bears and Colts are both teams that feel like they can get back into the playoffs with some offseason adjustments and quarterback is an issue for both teams. Mitchell Trubisky has underwhelmed and Jacoby Brissett doesn't look like much more than a game manager. Dalton could push both, but isn't a guarantee to beat them out either, so both franchises would have to do some pretty heavy cost analysis.

Meanwhile, the Patriots, Dolphins and Buccaneers probably all have to wait and see how the Tom Brady and Philip Rivers sagas play out before they move on to an option like Dalton. So it's hard to place Dalton with any of those franchises at the moment.

The Chargers are probably the most intriguing option remaining on the board. With the No. 6 pick in the upcoming draft, they've got an opportunity to land their quarterback of the future, but they might not be able to land a prospect who is ready to start from Day One at that position and Dalton could serve as a useful bridge.

With nearly $56 million in estimated cap space for the upcoming season, the Chargers could afford to trade for Dalton and keep him from the open market where a bidding war may drive his price up. With the Titans seemingly set on Ryan Tannehill, the Raiders waiting on Brady and still saddled with Derek Carr, and the Panthers looking towards the draft while figuring out what to do with Cam Newton, the Chargers are probably the best value.
