No. 5 Purdue vs. Wisconsin Big Ten basketball odds, bracketology: Bubble team Badgers should punch Big Dance ticket with win, may be without guard Chucky Hepburn

Wisconsin has missed the NCAA Tournament just once this century – not including the canceled 2020 Big Dance – and likely can assure itself of an at-large bid on Selection Sunday with an upset of Big Ten champion No. 5 Purdue on Thursday in Madison. Wisconsin is a 4.5-point underdog at Caesars Sportsbook and might be without starting point guard Chucky Hepburn.

The Badgers are 16-12 overall and 8-10 in the Big Ten with an NCAA NET Ranking of 72nd, which isn't great. However, they do have a very solid six Quad 1 wins in 12 games, and a victory on Thursday would give them another. CBS Sports' Jerry Palm has Greg Gard's club among the Last Four In as a No. 11 seed in the First Four, facing fellow No. 11 Michigan State. ESPN Bracketology also has the Badgers among the Last Four In as a No. 11 seed in the First Four, matched up with No. 11 Arizona State.

Will Hepburn be available for the home finale? The sophomore suffered a knee injury early in the second half of Sunday's crushing overtime loss at fellow bubble team Michigan – the Wolverines tied it on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of regulation -- and apparently hasn't practiced since. He leads the team in scoring (12.1 points per game), minutes (32.0 MPG), assists (3.0 APG) and steals (1.5 SPG).

Purdue knows Hepburn well. In the meeting between the schools last year in Madison, he banked in a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds left in a 70-67 victory and finished with 17 points. The Boilermakers and Badgers haven't played since. If Hepburn can't go, Gard likely will start sophomore Kamari McGee. On Sunday, the Green Bay transfer played a career-high 25 minutes and had six points and three boards. McGee has 21 points combined in his past four games after totaling 13 in his previous 30, dating to last season.

Because it's Senior Night on Thursday, Tyler Wahl (the only senior on the roster) will be honored pregame. He has played in 119 career games and is averaging 11.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season with back-to-back double-doubles.

The Boilermakers (24-5, 13-5 Big Ten) are Big Ten regular-season champions – the school's 25 regular-season titles are the most in conference history -- and have a shot at a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but they aren't playing well right now, losing four of six. Purdue was shocked at home on Sunday, 79-71, by rival Indiana – which swept the regular-season series. Zach Edey had his national-best 22nd double-double season in the loss with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Edey's 14 games of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds are tied for the most for a Big Ten player in the last 15 years. He's a lock for the Wooden Award, priced -10000 at DraftKings.

Coach Matt Painter's team has now has lost its last three games when it was leading at halftime. In the three losses, the opposition  combined to shoot 45-of-84 (.536) in the second half, while Purdue managed to shoot just 25-of-77 (.325) from the field. CBS Sports has Purdue as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament's West Region, while ESPN gives the Boilermakers the same seed in the East.

Purdue leads the all-time series, 111-74, but Wisconsin has won the past two at the Kohl Center.
