NFL Week 5 opening line projections: Early power rating adjustments to help attack spreads for every game
Week 4 gave us the opportunity to learn about several fast and slow-starting teams, with the Bills and Dolphins squaring off in a massive divisional matchup, Joe Burrow getting a tasty matchup with one of the league's worst pass defenses and the four 0-3 teams playing each other. On the last note, the Broncos and Bears took turns looking completely hopeless before the Broncos pulled out a three-point win, while the Vikings benefited from a 51-yard fumble return TD to win 21-13 in a game where more was expected from their offense against a banged-up Panthers defense. Of the four, only the Broncos are set to be favored next week as we project the Week 5 opening lines.
For the Bengals, Burrow only managed 165 pass yards on 30 attempts while being under constant pressure by the Tennessee defense. Cincinnati didn't pull their ailing QB despite the 27-3 final score, and we'll see how he feels during the week heading into yet another must-win game for the 1-3 Bengals when they head to Arizona to face the Cardinals.
The marquee matchup of the weekend came in Orchard Park, with a seemingly unstoppable Dolphins offense looking to take control of the division by beating the Bills and effectively taking a 2.5-game lead in the AFC East. The game looked on the path to a shootout after Buffalo went up 21-14 just 20 minutes into the action, but things slowed down for the Dolphins from that point on, with the team getting no first downs on their remaining four drives in the first half and then managing just seven points in the second half. The Dolphins are in a nice bounceback spot next week at home against the Giants, while the Bills head to London to face the Jaguars at their home away from home.
