No sugar-coating here. It's been a rough start for this teaser column: 0-2 (-2.2 units).

We went for a plus-payout, three-teamer last week and missed two legs. The Panthers (+8) covered their 6-point teaser leg in a 19-16 loss at the Giants, but the Commanders (+7.5) and Bengals (-1.5) fell short. Washington lost 36-27 at Detroit; Cincinnati fell 20-17 at Dallas.

Overall, my official SportsLine picks stand 8-6 (+1.4 units), my weekly best bets article is 4-2, and my picks on the Early Edge show  -- heavily tilted toward props -- are 12-9 (+1.92 units).

On to Week 3. 

Of the board's seven potential teaser legs, one jumps out: Kansas City from -6.5 to -0.5 at Indianapolis. Patrick Mahomes has never lost a game indoors. While the 2-0 Chiefs have played to expectations, the 0-1-1 Colts are the league's biggest disappointment.

This is obviously a desperation spot for the preseason AFC South favorites. It's the Colts' first home game. If they get Shaquille Leonard and Michael Pittman back, they could be competitive. I'll still take the Chiefs to win straight-up.

Many bettors will use the Packers, who dominated on Sunday Night Football, in their teasers. But I'm wary of the Buccaneers' stout defense, even with Akiem Hicks sidelined. It's Tampa Bay's first home game. The last time Green Bay visited, on Oct. 18, 2020, Aaron Rodgers went 16 of 35 for 160 yards and two INTs in a 38-10 trouncing.
