NFL Week 2 teasers: Proven NFL expert ranks top teaser options, passes on Saints vs. Buccaneers
Three of our top four teaser legs hit in Week 1, but alas we paired our top choice, the Vikings, with the 49ers. That proved to be a huge mistake. We backed an inexperienced quarterback in sloppy conditions on the road. It proved fatal, as Trey Lance completed less than 50% of his throws in the 19-10 loss at Chicago.Â
On their final four drives, the 49ers amassed 74 yards on 28 plays. That's hard to believe, and hard to stomach.
So we're 0-1 (-1.2 units) on teasers. Fortunately, my official SportsLine picks went 5-2 (plus 2.8 units), my best bets article went 3-0, and my picks on the Early Edge show -- heavily tilted toward props -- went 5-4 (plus 0.4 units).
On to Week 2. Most weeks I'll be giving out two-team teasers, but this week I like three teaser legs enough to go for the +160 payout on a three-teamer. Books used to pay out +180 but they've slashed the payout due to teasers' increasing popularity.
As usual, there are a slew of potential teaser legs. I'm avoiding the Saints (+2.5 to +8.5) vs. the Buccaneers, because Tampa Bay's defense really impressed me. I'm also staying away from the Steelers (+2 to +8) vs. New England. Pittsburgh mustered 13 first downs last week and, due to a pectoral injury, lost their best overall player in T.J. Watt.
But here are four teaser legs I really like, along with my official play. Good luck!
