NFL Week 16 opening line projections: Early power rating adjustments to help attack spreads for every game
Sunday in Week 15 served as a wakeup call for the Giants and Jets after their QBs won conference player of the week awards following wins the previous week. Zach Wilson came out of a 30-0 thrashing by the Dolphins first due to dehydration, then due to a non-concussion head injury, but he was ultimately announced as having a concussion. I gave the Jets a 1.5-point upgrade this past week due to the upgrade from Tim Boyle/Trevor Siemian to Wilson, and I've dropped them back to my previous rating of five points worse than an average team.
Tommy DeVito also had to exit his game due to concussion testing just before halftime but was able to return for the second half. He got nothing done for the Giants offense in either half as the Giants stumbled to 3.2 yards per play in a 24-6 loss to the Saints. Surprisingly, Derek Carr had his best game of the season despite the absence of Chris Olave, and I've given the Saints a slight upgrade to put them slightly above the Vikings, Buccaneers and Colts. The Giants fall to a tie for 30th in my initial spread power ratings, and you can see which teams I have worse when the full ratings come out on Tuesday.
I also made plenty of other power ratings adjustments to get an idea of where I would set the spread for each Week 15 game. You can see all of my early projected spreads below, which is designed to help you attack the Week 16 opening lines later today. We'll run our full look at power ratings and official spread projections on Tuesday here at SportsLine.
