Fantasy Outlook in team city:
Pittman broke out in a big way in his final season at USC after he battled some injuries earlier in his college career. He started to show signs of surging in 2018, when he averaged 18.5 yards per catch. Last season, he was fourth in the nation in receptions (101) and Top 10 in yardage (1,275).Â
Pittman's father was an NFL running back for the Cardinals and Buccaneers, and he has groomed his son to be prepared for the pros. Such guidance can only help Pittman acclimate quickly and effectively to the NFL and possibly make him more of a fantasy contributor early in his career.Â
A very big target with strong hands and the ability to win battles for contested catches frequently, Pittman can be a reliable pass-catcher on key downs and in TD situations. There are concerns about his speed and the ability to separate from DBs in the NFL. He may never become a fantasy star, but Pittman has the potential to become a quality starter.Â
Pittman gives new Colts QB Philip Rivers a needed big target to complement T.Y. Hilton. The Colts had a glaring need at the position and Pittman can have some upside right from the start. Rivers should be able to look for him on key passing downs and he will be a significant TD threat in scoring situations near the goal line. He should be drafted on the fantasy WR4/5 cusp.Â
Pittman should eventually prove to be a quality fantasy starter, so consider him as a second round pick in rookie drafts. He should ultimately figure to be a fantasy WR2/3 once he shows he has fully adapted to the league. Rivers now has an important additional weapon for this year to possibly bounce back to respectability in two QB formats.Â
