Fantasy Outlook in Chicago:
This year's tight end class was not considered a deep and impressive one, and Kmet appears to be the most appealing of a questionable lot. Savvy fantasy players know not to expect much production from most TEs early in their NFL careers.Â
Kmet appears to be a fantasy project, as he only caught 17 passes at Notre Dame before last season. He did average 12 yards per catch in 2019 and scored six times, but his statistical profile should not move any needles with yearly fantasy players.Â
Kmet is a big target who should eventually develop into at least a respectable fantasy option. He does have significant yardage after the catch potential. But he needs a lot of refinement and teaching in the NFL first, and only figures to be a dynasty target in 2020.Â
Kmet will not be an impact player in seasonal fantasy leagues this season, as Chicago signed Jimmy Graham to bolster the position in free agency. Graham's best years are behind him but his presence assures that Kmet will not have the opportunity to be much of a contributor as a rookie.Â
Kmet will hopefully be able to learn and absorb the finer points of the pro game from Graham, and by his third season, he should be ready to be considered for potential fantasy impact. He will go undrafted in most yearly fantasy leagues and will be a deeper selection to stash in dynasty formats.Â
