Our three NFL lookahead recommendations last week can be summed up thusly: the good, the bad and the shrug-ly.

We scored with the Los Angeles Chargers at -6 against New Orleans, getting L.A. before the line jumped a half-point over 7. This, despite the Chargers stumbling against the Arizona Cardinals. The Saints were far worse and, with quarterback Derek Carr still mending, rookie replacement Spencer Rattler has been dealt a cruelly weak hand on offense.

We whiffed on the New York Giants at +3.5 against Pittsburgh, actually thinking the line could meander to 3. Instead, it careened in the opposite direction to -6.5 after the Philadelphia Eagles smacked the Giants in their finest showing of the season. New York has scored all of 10 points the past two outings, while the heretofore offensively stagnant Steelers slapped 37 on the New York Jets.

As for our other selection, Las Vegas at +10 vs. Kansas City, it's worth a shrug. The spread has not budged even though the Chiefs extended their unbeaten record with a win over San Francisco and the Raiders bowed to the Los Angeles Rams.
