The catchy tune "Hooked On A Feeling" from pop music's distant past was included on the soundtracks of a few hit films. It popped into our brain as we perused the NFL lookahead picks from the Week 12 schedule.

We became hooked on the feeling that this is not the San Francisco 49ers' year. Their injury-riddled squad was heading to Green Bay last weekend as an underdog but by well shy of a touchdown. Final score: Packers 38, Niners 10.

As a result, the lookahead line of Buffalo -3 for Week 13 has shot up like our blood pressure would while talking politics over Thanksgiving Day dinner. The Bills, who were off a week ago, now stand at -7 — which makes San Francisco serious underdogs. For a lookahead, we cannot ask for much better than that.

Our other recommendations from the 12th week also worked out well, even if the movement was just a half-point each.

We selected Indianapolis -2.5 at New England, based largely on the fact that the Patriots had only been underdogs by under a field goal once all season. After the Colts were drubbed by Detroit, we were pleasantly surprised to see the spread inch up to -3 this week. New England cooperated by absorbing an equally sound beating from Miami.

Similarly, we opted for the Los Angeles Rams at -2.5 against New Orleans. Similarly, L.A. was roughed up by the Philadelphia Eagles. Similarly, in spite of the outcome and the Saints enjoying a bye, the spot has drifted up to -3.
