NFC South futures trends: Buccaneers' win total has been most wagered in NFL and risen from 9 to 9.5

No question that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers "won" the NFL offseason by surprisingly luring six-time Super Bowl champion and GOAT Tom Brady from New England in free agency, with Brady convincing Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement and join him in Tompa Bay. William Hill sportsbook opened the Bucs at Over-Under 9 wins, but there has been so much action on the Over – no win total has taken more overall action in terms of tickets sold at the sportsbook – that Brady & Co. are now set at 9.5 wins.

Currently, the Over 9.5 is priced at -140 for the Bucs. A total of 70 percent of all action on the Bucs' win total prop is on the Over as well as 65 percent of all tickets sold. Just think if the team signs Antonio Brown too (not likely)! In addition, the Bucs are dominating the rest of the NFC South in terms of overall action with 56 percent of all win total tickets of the four division teams on Tampa Bay as well as 46 percent of all money wagered.

William Hill bettors actually are even more optimistic on the Carolina Panthers, however. They are given a division-low win total of 5.5 after an offseason overhaul that saw the release of quarterback Cam Newton, the retirement of star linebacker Luke Kuechly, signing of free-agent QB Teddy Bridgewater and the hiring of Baylor's Matt Rhule as head coach, among other moves.

Carolina is set at 5.5 wins, but 81 percent of all money wagered on the Panthers' win total is on the Over as are 72 percent of all tickets sold. The largest wager on any NFC South win total was on Carolina with a Nevada bettor dropping $2,400 on the Panthers' Over. Said bettor would win $4,440 if the Cats reach 6 victories. The SportsLine Projection Model has them at 6.2 wins.

The coach on the hottest seat in the NFC South is Atlanta's Dan Quinn, with the Falcons set at 7.5 wins. Bettors like the Over there as well with 67 percent of tickets sold on the Over and 62 percent of all money wagered. Atlanta has gone 7-9 each of the past two seasons. If the team gets off to a slow start in 2020, Quinn is a goner.

Finally, the lone NFC South team where the action is split is on the New Orleans Saints' win total of 10.5. A total of 63 percent of all money wagered is on the Over, but 53 percent of tickets sold on the Under. New Orleans and San Francisco are tied for the highest win total among NFC teams.
