NFC North futures trends: William Hill bettors crushing under win totals on Bears and Packers

William Hill sportsbook bettors are not very optimistic on Chicago and Green Bay this NFL season.

Very interesting betting trends regarding NFL North Over-Under win totals for the 2020 season as players at William Hill sportsbook are hammering the Over on both the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings yet crushing the Under for the past two champions of the North, the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.

Only four teams in the NFL at William Hill have taken at least an 80 percent lean on Under their win total so far. Green Bay is set at 9.5 victories after going 13-3 last year and claiming the division title, and 86 percent of all money on the Packers' 2020 win total is on the Under. Perhaps it's because the team got Aaron Rodgers no receiving help in the draft and chose to take Utah State QB Jordan Love in the first round?

Chicago, meanwhile, had originally been posted at 8.5 but is now set at 8 wins – which is the same number it finished with in 2019. The Bears still don't know whether Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles will be their starting quarterback and bettors apparently aren't overly confident in either with 81 percent of all money wagered on the Chicago win total toward the Under. More tickets have been sold overall, 40 percent, on Bears win total tickets in the division regardless of lean. Green Bay is next at 29 percent.

Meanwhile, the Vikings are at 9 wins and the Over is taking 98 percent of all money wagered on that prop as well as 89 percent of tickets sold, a division high. Being as 2020 is an even-numbered year, that may not bode well for NFL bettors because the Vikings haven't won more than 8 games in one of those seasons since 2012. The past three odd-numbered seasons? At least 10 wins in each.

Finally, the Lions, who changed principal owners this week, were 3-12-1 last year under coach Matt Patricia, and he's on an incredibly hot seat entering this season as is GM Bob Quinn, especially with a new principal owner in charge. The Lions are set at 6.5 wins with 98 percent of all money on that prop on the Over as well as 83 percent of all tickets sold. A Nevada bettor placed a $2,300 wager on Detroit Over 6.5 wins at -115 on the moneyline, which would return $4,300.
