Lamar Jackson futures odds: Ravens quarterback now favored to win 2022 NFL Offensive Player of the Year
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was the +1000 favorite entering the season to win NFL Offensive Player of the Year and stayed in that role after rushing for 161 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. Taylor has since totaled just 125 yards combined in the past two games and has failed to score again. He is now +1600 for OPOY at DraftKings. The new favorite is Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson at +700. No quarterback has won the award since Patrick Mahomes did so in 2018.
In Sunday's 37-26 win at New England, Jackson completed 18 of his 29 passes for 218 yards and four touchdowns, good for a 110.3 rating. The former league MVP added 107 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Jackson became the second player in NFL history to record at least four touchdown passes, 100 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in a single game, joining Randall Cunningham (four touchdown passes, 124 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on Nov. 4, 1990).
Jackson, who had recorded three touchdown passes and 119 rushing yards in Week 2, is the first player in the Super Bowl era to record at least three touchdown passes and 100-or-more rushing yards in consecutive games. He's the first quarterback in NFL history with consecutive 100-yard rushing games. On the season, he has thrown for 749 yards and 10 scores and rushed for 243 and two TDs.
Jackson is up to a +700 third-favorite to win MVP again, tied with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and behind Buffalo's Josh Allen (+300) and Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes (+550). Voters generally don't award the MVP and Offensive Player of the Year to the same player, although Mahomes had secured both in 2018.
When Jackson won MVP in 2019 and set an NFL record for a quarterback with 1,206 rushing yards, Saints wideout Michael Thomas was the Offensive Player of the Year. Jackson and the Ravens host Allen and the Bills on Sunday in a marquee matchup on CBS. Jackson is +3000 to lead the NFL in rushing yards this year. He's currently tied for fifth, 98 yards behind leader Nick Chubb of Cleveland.
Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson (+800), Hurts (+900) and Rams receiver and 2021 winner Cooper Kupp (+900) round out the favorites for OPOY.Â
