Kings vs. Warriors NBA playoffs Game 3 injury report, odds, trends: Mixed action on spread with Draymond Green out, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole questionable

The Warriors could be very short-handed tonight against Sacramento.

For the first time in the dynastic Stephen Curry-Klay Thompson-Draymond Green era, the Golden State Warriors find themselves trailing a playoff series 2-0 entering tonight first-round Game 3 against the Sacramento Kings as the series shifts to San Francisco. The Warriors are without Draymond Green as he serves a suspension for his actions in Game 2, and Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole are both questionable. Yet Golden State is a 5.5-point favorite at BetMGM. Bettors are mixed. Click here for model picks.

The Warriors actually had the audacity to complain that the NBA suspended Green a game for stomping on Kings center Domantas Sabonis' chest in Game 2, which earned Green a flagrant foul 2 and an ejection with 7:03 left in the game. But Green has a checkered past of that sort, including his memorable suspension for Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals against Cleveland -- thanks to a similar stomp in Game 4 -- that helped turn the tide of that series.

NBA executive vice president and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Green's "excessive and over-the-top actions" and his history as a "repeat offender" were instrumental in the league's decision to suspend him for Game 3. Green now has 163 career technical fouls, 17 ejections and four suspensions in his career.

He's still the team's best defender, so his absence is the last thing the Warriors need against a Kings offense that was the league's best in the regular season and is averaging 120.0 points per game in this series. The Kings have had an average possession length of 14.1 seconds through the first two games, the second fastest by an opponent in any playoff series against the Warriors under Steve Kerr. In half-court sets, Sacramento is averaging 1.15 points per possession, the highest offensive efficiency on half-court sets for a Warriors playoff opponent during Kerr's tenure.

Wiggins, who only returned from a long personal absence for this series, is questionable with right shoulder soreness. Poole is dealing with a sprained left ankle and Gary Payton II, another great defender, has with a non-COVID illness.

The Warriors opened at -7.5 at BetMGM for Game 3 but are down to -5.5. with 48% of the bets and 76% of the money on Golden State. The total has risen from an open of 238.5 to 239.5 with 30% of the bets and 51% of the money on the Over. The Kings, +200 on the moneyline, are taking 69% of the bets and 20% of the money.

The three most-wagered player props are Warriors center Kevon Looney Under 2.5 assists (+100), Stephen Curry Over 29.5 points (-115) and Kings star De'Aaron Fox Over 26.5 points. Curry had 30 in Game 1 and 28 in Game 2, while Fox had 38 in the opener and 24 in Game 2.

A Sacramento sweep would have been almost unthinkable entering the series and was priced at +4000, but is now down to +900.
