Kansas City Chiefs atop NFL playoff odds, with Jacksonville Jaguars longest shots
The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions, the current betting favorites to repeat and have the best all-around player in the NFL -- in his prime -- in superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Barring a serious injury to Mahomes, the Chiefs almost surely will make the postseason for a sixth year in a row. However, it's going to cost NFL bettors $1400 to win just $100 should K.C. do it. William Hill sportsbook has released yes/no playoff moneyline odds for every team, and Kansas City is -1400 to make it and +800 to miss.
That +800 price could be worth a $100 wager as it would return $800, and it should be said that Mahomes' backup quarterback is currently journeyman Chad Henne. Mahomes did suffer what originally looked to be a serious knee injury last season but ended up missing only two games – the Chiefs went 1-1 without the 2018 NFL MVP.
The NFL playoff field has expanded from six to seven teams this season and going forward, so that makes it even that much more likely that a good team will reach the postseason. The 8-8 Pittsburgh Steelers would have gotten in as the final AFC Wild-Card team in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars have the lowest Over-Under win total of 4.5 at William Hill and are also given the longest playoff odds at +800. It's quite possible if not likely that the Jaguars will be underdogs in every game this season. Coach Doug Marrone could be fired by October as he's on a very hot seat. That the Jaguars shock the world and play extra football is -1400.
SportsLine will examine a handful of individual teams' playoff odds with stories over the next week or so. The Dallas Cowboys were up first.Â
