Favorites to sign Seahawks safety Earl Thomas
After nine seasons in Seattle that yielded six Pro Bowls, three first-team All-Pro nods and a championship, it appears that Earl Thomas and the Seahawks will part ways this offseason. The 29-year-old is expected to become a free agent when the new league year begins on March 13.
The legal tampering period begins two days earlier on March 11 and it's expected that there should be a solid market for Thomas' services. Despite having his 2018 season ended by a fractured leg, Thomas is still a productive player in the back end that can help erase mistakes and generate turnovers.Â

But it will be interesting to see how his age and the injury concerns impact his overall value. Thomas and his agent David Mulugheta of Athletes First will certainly be looking for one more lucrative contract, but if his goal is to compete for another title and further enhance his legacy as a potential Hall of Famer, then he may have to take a discount.
Here at SportsLine, we're taking our shot at handicapping where Thomas will play in 2019. And these 10 teams all stand out as a potential destination for Thomas for one reason or another.Â
Here are the odds from SportsLine's Adam Thompson. These odds are not actionable.
Earl Thomas team in Week 1 of 2019 regular season
Dallas Cowboys 3/2
San Francisco 49ers 3/1
Green Bay Packers 5/1
Kansas City Chiefs 7/1
Atlanta Falcons 14/1
Houston Texans 14/1
Los Angeles Rams 14/1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14/1
New York Giants 18/1

Thomas has been linked to the Cowboys on a number of occasions, with many speculating that it's Thomas' desire to return home to Texas to play for America's Team. And last year the Cowboys made serious attempts to acquire him in a trade, but ultimately didn't meet Seattle's demands.
Given the injury, that was probably for the best. Now the Cowboys get to hold onto the second-round draft pick they were offering and can sign a healthy Thomas in free agency -- potentially even at a discount if his desire to play in Texas is that strong.Â
Of course, the Cowboys won't be the only team in the running here, as Richard Sherman is making active attempts to lure his old Seattle teammate to San Francisco. The 49ers have a boatload of projected cap space ($69.3 million) and they appear to be ascending under Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch.
Looking a little further down the list, the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans are both intriguing at 14/1. Falcons coach Dan Quinn was the defensive coordinator for two of Thomas' three All-Pro seasons and they have a need in the secondary while the Texans also have a modest need at safety and could provide an alternative to the Cowboys to come home to Texas.
Ultimately, it certainly feels like that Dallas can get this deal done if they don't try to lowball him. They've got $49.4 million in projected cap space, they made the playoffs last season and his ability to create takeaways fills a huge need for Rod Marinelli's defense.
