Fantasy Football 2021 rest of season RB rankings: Darrell Henderson, James Robinson leap into top 16
Week 4 brought more injuries to the RB position, as well as some shifting backfield depth chart situations that are worth being aware of. It appears that David Montgomery got the worst of the Week 4 RB injuries, as the Chicago bell-cow is reportedly set to miss 4-5 weeks with a sprained knee. Joe Mixon and Chris Carson each are dealing with injuries that could limit or cause them to miss their Week 5 game outright. We did get two banged-up backs back on the field in Week 4, as both Darrell Henderson and Josh Jacobs returned and immediately assumed the full capacity of their Fantasy-friendly roles.
One of the biggest rankings climbers in Week 4 was Atlanta RB Cordarelle Patterson. Patterson has been steadily moving up the rankings with each passing week, and his perceived value is at an all-time high after a three-touchdown performance. He joins Leonard Fournette, Latavius Murray, and Myles Gaskin as the running backs who saw their rest of season rank change the most from Week 4 to Week 5.
After evaluating the data and sharing What We Learned in Week 4, I'm ready to lay out my rest-of-season rankings at the running back position heading into Week 5. Here's where I'm ranking each RB going forward, given the data we have through three weeks.

Notable changes:
The Rams immediately re-inserted Darrell Henderson into one of the highest-volume roles of any running back in the NFL (find his full Week 4 Usage Report here), and the only thing keeping him out of the top 10 at this point is the uncertainty I feel about his ability to hold up over the remainder of the season while playing this type of a role. In terms of just week-to-week projection, Henderson belongs in Tier 3. There just aren't many backs who have the potential to play 90 percent of their team's snaps, and there are even fewer who have access to that type of opportunity on one of the NFL's highest-scoring offenses.
Similarly, James Robinson's week-to-week projection places him among the Tier 3 backs, but I just don't feel confident enough that his week-to-week projection will remain this strong to place him there for the rest of the season. My uncertainty with Robinson isn't associated with his health, though; I just don't feel any confidence in the situation in Jacksonville. Right now, Robinson's usage is better than almost any running back in the NFL. Can we expect Carlos Hyde to be inactive every week, though? Can we even feel confident that this team will have the same head coach one week from today? There are too many question marks to assume that Robinson is going to continue playing 90-95 percent of the snaps. And he really needs that type of involvement to move into the top 15 while playing in Jacksonville's middling offense.
