Fantasy Basketball: Waiver wire breakdown for Week 17 of the 2020-21 NBA season
Finding the perfect addition to your Fantasy basketball team via the waiver wire can be the difference between winning your league or going home with nothing. And before you determine which players you should target on the waiver wire this week, you absolutely need to see what SportsLine's NBA Fantasy expert Mike Barner has to say.
Barner is one of the most respected voices in the industry, whose work has appeared in Sports Illustrated and on Yahoo, RotoWire and KFFL. He's also been featured on ESPN Radio. He digs deep into the data, examining team trends and projecting game outcomes. If there's anybody who knows what it takes to win a league, it's him.
Now, he's revealed the best widely available free agents ahead of Week 17. One player Barner is advising Fantasy players to target on the Week 17 waiver wire: Suns forward Jae Crowder, who is available in 57 percent of leagues.
"Crowder is the perfect kind of player to pick up when the schedule works in his favor," Barner said. "His overall numbers don't jump off the charts, but his averages of 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 three-pointers can be useful in fantasy. That's especially true when the Suns are scheduled to play four times like they are in Week 17. In fact, they are scheduled to play four games in each of the final five weeks of the season."
Barner has also identified which other players you should target on waivers if you need a jolt for your squad, including a guard available in 60 percent of leagues who "has stepped up his production."Â Anyone who adds this player could hit it BIG.
