Eagles vs. Chiefs betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for Monday Night Football Week 11 matchup
There have been a lot of primetime matchups this NFL season that have required a little bit of manufactured hype to get audiences excited, but that's certainly not the case for Week 11's edition of Monday Night Football as the NFC-leading Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) visit the AFC-leading Kansas City Chiefs (7-2)Â in a rematch of Super Bowl 57 and a potential preview of Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, 2024. The Chiefs are -2.5 on the SportsLine consensus and, no, Taylor Swift will not be in attendance.
Monday marks the ninth matchup between the previous season's Super Bowl participants in NFL history. Kansas City beat Philadelphia, 38-35, in an epic game last February in Glendale. The previous season's Super Bowl winner is 6-2 in those prior games. What makes this different is that it is the first Super Bowl rematch in the following season for which each team entered with the best outright record in their conference.
It's the latest edition of the "Andy Reid Bowl," as the former Eagles coach and future Hall of Famer in February because the third head coach to ever win a Super Bowl against his former team, following Jon Gruden (vs. Raiders) and Weeb Ewbank (vs Colts). Did we mention Reid has never lost in this series? He's 4-0 vs. Philadelphia with Kansas City and was 3-0 with the Eagles against the Chiefs.
It's also the "Kelce Bowl" as brothers Jason Kelce, the Pro Bowl center for the Eagles, and Travis Kelce, the Pro Bowl tight end for the Chiefs, renew their rivalry. Think of how much more famous those two have become since Super Bowl 57 -- particularly Travis for obvious reasons. Reports are that the Kelce parents and Swift's parents will be watching the game together in a box if you care for such things. Taylor is in Brazil on her international tour.Â
Either Jalen Hurts or Patrick Mahomes could get a leg up in the MVP voters' minds with a win Monday after Mahomes beat out Hurts for regular-season and Super Bowl MVP honors last season. Hurts is currently the +280 favorite this year with Mahomes at +330 (tied with Ravens QB Lamar Jackson). We should get some excellent football just like we did in the Super Bowl because both teams are quite healthy and well-prepared with both coming off their bye week. If you're anticipating a rematch in February, the Super Bowl 58 exacta odds have the Chiefs beating the Eagles at +1800 and the opposite at +2000.Â
