Daniel Jones projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, New York Giants player profile, season outlook, simulations

Time may be running out on the former first round QB's Giants tenure

It may be "Danny Dimes'" last stand in New York after all. After three subpar seasons leading the Giants' below average offense, the team chose not to pick up the option for a fifth season of his rookie contract, thereby making Jones an unrestricted free agent in 2023. In 38 career games, the former North Carolina quarterback has thrown 45 touchdowns and 29 interceptions, numbers that surely aren't anywhere close to what teams are looking for in a starter. The Giants brought in offensive wunderkind Brian Daboll as their new coach and added veteran Tyrod Taylor as Jones' backup. It's clear the leash won't be nearly as long in 2022 for the Giants' presumed starting QB.

With a competent offensive core around him including Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and Saquon Barkley, it's possible Daboll's philosophy turns New York's offense into the high-octane machine the team had intended years ago. There is upside in drafting Jones as a fantasy QB2 if that logic seems believable. If given ample playing time, "Danny Dimes" should surpass his career high of 3,027 passing yards but the 24 touchdown passes in 2019 seems like a ceiling in 2022, not a floor.

The recommended scenario is to use Jones as an early season bye week fill-in or simply avoid him altogether on draft day.
