Dallas Cowboys-Arizona Cardinals Odds and Picks Against the Spread

The Cowboys come off a disappointing loss at Denver, while the Cardinals barely escaped Indy with an OT win. SportsLine breaks down the game.

    DALLAS COWBOYS AT ARIZONA CARDINALS (+3, O/U 47), Monday, 8:30 p.m. ET

The Cowboys venture out into the (Sunday) night again away from home after a severe spanking from Denver.

The Cardinals might need directions to their locker room. Counting exhibition games, they have played four straight on the road.

    LINE MOVEMENTS, TRENDS

The public took advantage of the hook and sided with the Cardinals at 3.5. The line has settled in at a field goal.

Neither side takes to Monday night football. The Cowboys are in a 3-9 ATS slump on the closing day of the weekly schedule, much like Arizona’s 1-6 ATS slide.

    BREAKDOWN

All eyes will be trained on RB Ezekiel Elliott, whose nine rushing yards and two apathetic plays after Dak Prescott was intercepted has led to extended ridicule.

The lack of a ground game and early deficit forced Prescott into the uncomfortable role of a pass-heavy QB. Partly as a result, TE Jason Witten leads the league in receptions (17), but Dallas prefers that Elliott’s name gets called most, along with WR Dez Bryant.

Veteran Arizona RB Chris Johnson figures to accept a bigger load after 11 carries last week. He is no David Johnson (no relation), out long-term with an injury, and will divvy up carries with Kerwynn Williams.

QB Carson Palmer could feast on an injury-ravaged Cowboys secondary. First, he must dodge the pass rush after the Colts sacked him four times on Sunday.

‘Zona, with a mere three touchdowns this season, did not lead in Indy until the final play of overtime. That’s how close the Cards are to 0-2.

The Cowboys’ defense gobbled up Eli Manning on opening weekend, then was torched by Trevor Siemian. Welcome to mystery theater.
