Colts vs. Broncos Thursday NFL betting trends, odds: Bettors crushing Denver on spread, Under total and Melvin Gordon to score

Indianapolis visits Denver tonight to kick off Week 5.

It doesn't appear there will be any last-minute injury surprises for tonight's Colts at Broncos matchup to kick off Week 5. Denver quarterback Russell Wilson was limited in practices this week with a sore shoulder but there was never a doubt he would play, and he has no injury designation for the game. We told you yesterday that Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor is out, and that likely is playing a part in the Broncos taking a huge lean on the spread at BetMGM as well as Under the total being hammered.

Denver is currently -3.5 and Wilson is 18-24-2 (43%) against the spread as a favorite over the past five seasons, including 0-2 ATS with his new team. Wilson did face the Colts last year in Indianapolis while still with Seattle and was brilliant with four touchdown passes, no picks and a 152.3 rating.

Wilson is 9-2 in 11 career starts on Thursday and has a passer rating of 110 or higher in eight of the nine victories. For tonight, Wilson is set at over/\under 230.5 passing yards, 19.5 completions, 31.5 attempts, 1.5 TD passes and 13.5 rushing yards. Wilson led the Broncos with 29 rushing yards in Sunday's loss to the Raiders.

The Broncos are taking 77% of the money on the spread and 70% of the tickets. However, 55% of moneyline bets are on the Colts at +150. The total dropped to 42.5 with the Taylor injury news and 81% of the money and 80% of the tickets are on the Under.

Indianapolis is averaging an NFL-worst 14.3 points this season, the fewest for the team through four games since 1998. Denver is averaging 16.5 points per game, the fewest through four games in Wilson's career. The over/under combined for these teams is 1-7.

With the Broncos losing Javonte Williams to a season-ending injury on Sunday, Melvin Gordon takes over as the featured back. He has seven touchdowns (six rushing, one receiving) in his past eight home games and four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) in his past three Thursday games overall. The most-wagered player prop as of now at BetMGM is Gordon at +500 to score the game's first touchdown.

The next two most popular are on Colts receiver Michael Pittman to score an anytime TD at +190 (he has one touchdown in three games), and Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy Over 50.5 receiving yards. Jeudy has topped that number twice this year. It could be that bettors believe Denver will throw a bit more with Williams sidelined.
