Celtics vs. Suns line, picks: Advanced computer NBA model releases selections for Friday matchup

SportsLine's projection model generated selections for Friday's matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns host the Boston Celtics in a cross-conference clash at 10 p.m. ET on Friday. Phoenix is favored by 5.5 points at Caesars Sportsbook, while the Over-Under is set at 216.5 (see up-to-date odds for every game this week on our NBA odds page). Before making any Celtics vs. Suns picks, you NEED to check out the NBA predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every NBA game 10,000 times and has returned well over $10,000 in profit on its top-rated NBA picks over the past three-plus seasons. The model enters Week 8 of the 2021-22 NBA season up almost $2,000 on all top-rated NBA picks this season. It's also on a stunning 121-78 roll on top-rated NBA picks against the spread that dates back to last season. Anyone following it has seen HUGE returns.

The model knows the Celtics are leading the NBA in free throw accuracy, making 82.2 percent of shots, and Boston is also in the top six in free throw volume. The Celtics are excellent defensively as well, holding opponents to 1.07 points per possession. Opponents are shooting just 44.2 percent against Boston this season, and the Celtics are securing 73.9 percent of defensive rebounds. Phoenix is the second-worst offensive rebounding team in the NBA, and the Suns will face a challenge against a Celtics defense that limits the opposition to 21.7 assists per game.

The model also knows the Suns are 19-1 in the last 20 games and playing at a sky-high level. Phoenix is No. 6 in the NBA in offensive rating and No. 2 in the NBA in defensive rating, out-scoring opponents by more than six points per 100 possessions. The Suns rank in the top five in shooting efficiency and assists on offense, with Phoenix taking care of the ball with a turnover on fewer than 14 percent of possessions. Opponents are also shooting just 49.2 percent on two-point attempts against the Suns, the best mark in the NBA for any defense.

Now, it has set its sights on Celtics vs. Suns. We can tell you the model is leaning under the total, and it also says one side of the spread hits in well over 50 percent of simulations! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any NBA picks.
