Blues vs. Avalanche odds, line: Hockey expert reveals picks for Friday's Stanley Cup playoffs game

NHL insider Matt Severance has made his picks for Friday's Stanley Cup conference semifinals game at Enterprise Center in St. Louis between the Blues and Colorado Avalanche

It's win or go home for the St. Louis Blues on Friday night as they welcome the Colorado Avalanche to Enterprise Center for Game 6 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoffs series. St. Louis already staved off elimination when they rallied out of a 3-0 hole for a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory in Game 5. But it will be no easy feat containing the mighty Avalanche, who have responded accordingly to adversity all throughout these playoffs and, as they showed in Games 3 and 4, have no problem winning on the road. With a chance at going to the Western Conference Final on the line, this is one Stanley Cup playoffs tilt you won't want to miss.

Puck drop from Enterprise Center is set for 8 p.m. ET. The Avalanche are listed as the -170 favorite (risk $170 to win $100) on the 60 minute money line in the latest Avalanche vs. Blues odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the Blues are the +145 underdogs. The over-under for goals is set at 6.5 (see the latest lines for every game on our NHL odds page).

Before making any Avalanche vs. Blues picks, you NEED to see the latest NHL predictions from the SportsLine hockey insider Matt Severance.

Severance is a well-connected writer and handicapper who has worked in the industry since 2005. He's SportsLine's top NHL handicapper, going 127-65-4 in his last 196 NHL picks, returning over $2,800 for $100 players.

Severance knows that this is probably going to be another high-scoring game between these Western Conference juggernauts. The games have gotten more goal-heavy as the series has gone on, with Games 4 and 5 each ending with nine combined goals. Blues forward David Perron and Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon rank second and third respectively among goal-scorers this postseason with nine and eight goals a piece, bested only by Edmonton Oilers winger Evander Kane, who has scored 12.

The chances of Friday's game being a high-scoring affair are greater because of who will be in net. Blues goaltender Ville Husso has given up at least four goals in his last five outings and gets the start on Friday over Jordan Binnington, who is out with a knee injury. Colorado's starting netminder, Darcy Kuemper, has faired better through the playoffs with a 2.50 goals-against average and .904 save percentage, but also allowed the five goals in Game 5. While that late-game collapse wasn't entirely Kuemper's fault, he has to be tighter on Friday night if the Avalanche are going to win the series.

Now, Severance has set his sights on Blues vs. Avalanche. We can tell you he's leaning Over on the goal total, and he's also found a critical x-factor that has him jumping all over one side of the money line! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any NHL picks of your own.
