Antonio Brown supposedly retiring from the NFL yet again, but odds favor him playing at some point

Antonio Brown says he is calling it quits on his NFL career. Where have we heard this before?

Can someone retire from being unemployed? Apparently former All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown can because he declared on social media Monday that he was done with the NFL. Call us skeptical considering this is at least the third time AB has retired in a year or so. He most recently had "retired" with a tweet on Sept. 22, 2019. He also did Aug. 9 of last year.

"at this point the risk is greater than the reward thank you everyone who been part of this journey i sincerely thank you for everything! life goes on 84!," was among Brown's tweets today.

If the 32-year-old Brown is really done – he isn't – he deserves a spot in Canton someday despite all his shenanigans on and off the field. He is one of just three players in NFL history to have at least 11,200 receiving yards and 74 receiving scores in his first nine seasons. The others are GOAT Jerry Rice and Calvin Johnson.

Brown is a seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro. He led the league in receiving yards twice, in catches twice and in TD grabs once.  Brown's 2015 season in which he had 136 catches for 1,834 yards and 10 TDs with Pittsburgh was ranked as the best of any receiver last decade per Pro Football Focus' wins above replacement number.

Of course, Brown played in just one game last year, coming with the Patriots after the Raiders released him. Brown reportedly is looking at around an eight-game suspension by the NFL if he does decide to play and a team signs him. The Seattle Seahawks did a "deep dive" on Brown per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Brown was seen working out with Seahawks QB Russell Wilson earlier this month.

The Baltimore Ravens also kicked the tires on signing Brown, who worked out with Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson too. Brown's cousin Marquise Brown is a wideout on the Ravens. Brown remains +2500 on the William Hill moneyline odds to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
